Nowadays, adult educators are required to manage and train an increasingly diverse population. . This diversity is mostly the result of economic migrants and refugees settling in our region. Diverse educational groups are a typical occurrence in our society today. In this new reality, adult educators are expected to manage the diversity of their groups and to integrate their trainees into the educational process in order to provide the necessary conditions for their professional and social development.
Objectives
1. To develop the intercultural skills of adult trainers
2. To foster a culture of lifelong learning among adult trainers.
3. To promote the European dimension of adult trainers’ professional development.
Mobility
In the framework of the project six (6) adult trainers from E-SCHOOL travelled to Iceland from 18 – 24 September 2022 to attend the course “Sensitization training with reference to migration, racism, discrimination etc., culture and diversity with strategies for teaching these issues to diverse age groups”, in order to update their knowledge and skills.
Results
Adult trainers now:
- have awareness of issues such as stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, exclusion/inclusion and racism and everyday racism
- have positive attitudes towards intercultural training
- have developed their ability to create a learning environment of trust and security
- can create lesson plans using the principles of intercultural education
- can manage groups of different cultural backgrounds
- have shaped a culture of Lifelong Learning
- have a more positive attitude towards the European project and the EU values
- have developed professional networks across Europe.
